Caloura is a coastal locality in Água de Pau, in the municipality of Lagoa on São Miguel. Treating Caloura and Água de Pau as unrelated accommodation areas creates confusion: the three current AzoresLand houses are all in the same Caloura location in Água de Pau.

Who this area suits

Caloura can suit couples, families and small groups who prefer a quieter south-coast base and plan to move around the island by car, transfer or organised pickup. It is not the same experience as staying in central Ponta Delgada, where restaurants, urban services and departures may be easier to reach on foot.

The three houses

Casa Galé T1 has one bedroom and space for two guests. Casa do Vinhateiro has two bedrooms and space for four. Casa Galé T3 has three bedrooms and space for six.

Car, transfer or tour pickup?

A car gives the most flexibility for meals and independent stops. Without a car, confirm the airport transfer and tour pickup before choosing the house. Do not assume every shared tour follows the same south-coast collection route.

Planning days from the south coast

Caloura can be a practical base for Lagoa do Fogo, Furnas and days around the centre and south of the island. Sete Cidades and Nordeste involve different directions, so avoid grouping distant areas simply because they look close on a small map.
